Sierra Nevada Wild SierraNevadaWild.gov is the brainchild of the Sierra Nevada Wilderness Education Project, a joint effort of the Forest Service, the National Park Service, and the Bureau of Land Management. These agencies are responsible for managing the 28 individual wilderness areas along the “spine” of the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

Wilderness food storage regulations - Bear resistant food containers ("bear canisters") are required for overnight hikers in most of the Yosemite Wilderness and are strongly recommended everywhere else.
